Description of Triangle Palm Tree

The Triangle Palm is perhaps the most unique palm out there. Hailing from the African country of Madagascar, the Triangle Palm gets its name from the formation of its fronds. Growing upright in layers, the fronds stem from one of three sides of the trunk in a unique fashion. Eventually arching outward, these fronds create a beautiful canopy that is truly a sight to behold. You can find these palms spread across Southwest Florida, including Cape Coral, Pine Island, Fort Myers, and Naples.

The Triangle palm is a landscaper’s dream palm tree because of its versatility. It can be used as a centerpiece for a garden area or a circular driveway, accent a yard or the corner of a home. Because of its unique beauty, we recommend keeping other plants 3 to 4 feet from the base of the palm to ensure that its full view is enjoyed.

The Triangle Palm Has A Unique Look

Display the beauty of this unique palm tree day or night. Install nighttime lighting from behind or below and highlight its unique triangular form and spectacular leaves. Unlike many palms, the Dypsis Decaryi can actually be a good indoor palm, if you have the space, while it grows. Since it has a slow to moderate growth rate, it will be enjoyed for many years to come while inside your home. The Triangle reaches a height of 20 to 25 feet and will likely reach a maximum of 15 feet wide.

When planted outdoors, make sure the Triangle Palm is in a well-drained area of your yard; unlike the Coconut Palm, it does not like wet feet. When choosing its location, keep it at least 5 feet from the walls of your home or any other structure. To keep its beauty going year round, we suggest fertilizing twice a year with a slow release palm fertilizer so that it doesn’t lose potassium. Additionally, it is a moderately drought tolerant palm, but water it when you can during the dry months.
