The Empire Zoysia sod is another favorite among Southwest Florida landscapers and homeowners. This cultivar of zoysia is a natural variety that was discovered in Brazil.
We particularly enjoy providing Empire Zoysia sod to you because of its natural ability to thrive in our tropical climate and because of its beauty. Its unique wide blades and emerald green color are among the top reasons why people choose to plant Empire Zoysia.
Empire Zoysia is a great choice for Southwest Florida, especially in Cape Coral, Pine Island, Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, and Naples, because of how durable and low-maintenance it is. In addition to its heat-tolerance, this Zoysia cultivar is extremely drought tolerant, recovers from trampling well, resists weeds and chinch bugs.
Also, if you do not like to mow your lawn more than once a week, you are in luck. Empire Zoysia is a relatively slow vertical growing sod that should be mowed down to a height of about 2 inches.
Due to the Empire Zoysia’s deep root system, it does not require as much water as other turf grasses might. This is especially good news for homeowners who do not want to water as much during our drier winter months.
This is also because the grass becomes more “dormant” and enters a pseudo-hibernation mode where the growing slows down and the watering needs become relatively minimal compared to the rainy summer season.
We highly recommend Empire Zoysia for the Southwest Florida homeowner’s yard. It’s soft to the touch, low maintenance, and one of the most durable turf sods around. You won’t be disappointed!

Due to the fragile nature of sod grasses, all sales are final and there are no guarantees or refunds even if you follow all the care instructions on our website. For any type of sod to survive, it requires a minimum of 5 to 6 hours of sunlight per day and must be sprayed to prevent fungus and pests. Lack of proper maintenance for one day could cause newly installed sod to die. Due to the weight of our equipment and product upon delivery, damages may occur on driveways and sidewalks. The driver will only follow the customer’s instructions. By continuing with this purchase, you agree to release JMC Landscaping of any responsibility of such damages.
